From Darkness to Light

Deepavali, A special festival which is close to everyone’s heart for so many reason, even for me. When I was kid, This festival would excite me more since mandatorily I used to get a new dress, used to burn crackers, fav dish and sweets from amma’s kitchen, playing with friends and most importantly chutti from school 🤩,what else anybody would want!

But when I tried to understand why we light diya’s and the significance of it, I referred to many articles, went through many blogs, But found the below piece[FYI : Given the link below] which have beautifully explained this. Deepavali is beyond burning crackers and having fun. Lighting diya has deeper meaning :

 “The oil in the diya symbolises the dirt in the human mind such as greed, envy, hate, lust etc. The cotton in the diya is symbolic of the soul or the atma. When the oil is burnt by the wick, the diya provides illumination”

So, Now we know why it is important to light diya’s rather than burning crackers. Let this Deepavali bring a positive change in everyone’s life and spread happiness.
